How far will you go to change the world for the ones you love?

THE PRICE WE PAY is about the big city lawyer NANNA (31), who defends large corporations that are polluting the environment. When Nanna’s little sister, OPHELIA (18), who lives in a small town on the West coast of Jutland, gets cancer due to drinking contaminated water, Nanna is struck by guilt and a thirst for revenge.

Nanna quits her job and seeks out the climate activist MARIN (38) to become part of her secret group. Marin’s group is committed to fighting against significant climate polluters. But as Nanna gains more and more power within the group, her need for revenge begins to take over, and she has less time for Ophelia. At the same time, Nanna’s influence makes the group far more radical, and they gain a reputation for being eco-terrorists, which not only brings them into the spotlight of the police but also creates internal conflict.

It all culminates in a major mission against a chemical factory, where Nanna ends up sacrificing some of the others from the group to get the truth out about the factory’s pollution.

While standing in the chaos of her actions, she learns that Ophelia’s condition has worsened, and she is now in a coma. Nanna is faced with a decisive choice: Continue the fight to create change in the world or be there for the person she started fighting for, Ophelia.
