How To Stay Stress Free As A Busy Entrepreneur
Many business owners and entrepreneurs recognize the feeling of being too busy for our own good. There are too many deadlines, customers, clients, administrative tasks, staff issues, social events, financial issues etc. And suddenly it becomes too difficult to stay balanced, and we begin slowly to feel unwell. So when is it just being busy, and when is it stress?
I usually say that if you cannot let go of the physical stress symptoms and relax during a nice long weekend away from it all, or while you’re on vacation, then you are moving from being busy to being stressed, and you may be heading for trouble!
Coping with stress in our busy lives is a lot about staying in balance. If you work hard, then you must also relax “hard”! Meaning doing good things for yourself to balance off your daily hectic work schedule. You do this by getting enough good quality sleep, preferably between 7 and 8 hours every night. You should exercise daily, not necessarily strenuous exercise, but a good walk or bike ride is great prevention against stress. You do more things that makes you happy, whether that is playing with your kids, taking cooking classes, being romantic with your partner, doing yoga, learning new skills, reading good books, getting a puppy, meditate, watching funny movies etc – whatever makes you happy and feel good about life.
And you must learn to identify your stress triggers! Because when you know exactly what stresses you, then you can deal with those triggers by getting rid of them, moving away from them or learning to ignore or accept them, and not letting them bug you any longer. Know that if you do get seriously stressed, there are many good tools and qualified help out there to assist you. But prevention is always a whole lot better than having a serious stress breakdown.
